We take your privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how Semantic SEO Auditor (referred to as "the Extension," "we," "us," or "our") processes, stores, and protects information when you install and use our Chrome Extension.

1. What Information We Access and How It Is Used

To perform its core utility (providing an SEO audit of your content), the Extension requires specific browser permissions. Here is exactly what we access and why:

• Active Page Content (DOM structure): When you click the "AUDIT" button, the Extension reads the structural elements (headings, paragraph word counts, links, schema tags, and presence of numbers/statistics) of the web page currently loaded in your active tab. This is used solely to calculate and display the SEO audit results in the side panel.
• Page URL and Title: The URL and title are retrieved to display in the side panel header so you know which page is being audited.
• Local Storage (chrome.storage.local): The Extension stores the results of your most recent audit on your computer. This allows you to close and reopen the side panel without losing your last audit. This data remains on your local machine and is never shared.

2. Information Collection, Transmission, and Sharing

Because the Extension runs entirely within your local browser environment:

• No Server Connections: The Extension does not connect to any databases or remote APIs. It has no server infrastructure.
• No Data Sharing or Selling: Because we do not collect or transmit any data, it is impossible for us to share, sell, or rent your information to third-party companies, advertisers, or data brokers.
• Data Deletion: Any data stored by the Extension is bound to your Chrome profile. You can delete all local data by removing the Extension from Chrome or by clearing your browser's cached data and local storage.

3. Explanation of Permissions Requested

To comply with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Policies, here is the technical justification for the permissions requested in our manifest.json:

1. activeTab: Used to obtain the URL, title, and tab ID of the current page you want to audit.
2. scripting: Used to run the analysis script on the active page's DOM to extract SEO attributes.
3. storage: Used to save your last audit result locally so it is restored when you reopen the panel.
4. sidePanel: Used to display the audit results in a persistent panel beside your web browser window.
5. <all_urls> (Host Permissions): Allows you to audit pages on any domain you choose (including staging environments, CMS editors, and competitors' domains).

4. Security

Since all operations are run entirely inside Chrome's secure sandbox environment on your local machine, the security of your data is protected by Google Chrome's built-in application sandboxing. We do not load any external scripts (like CDNs) dynamically, preventing potential security injection vulnerabilities.

5. Children's Privacy

Our Extension is not designed to collect any information, let alone from children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from children because we do not collect any personal data from any user.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in Chrome Web Store policies or Extension features. Any updates will be published directly in the Extension's store listing or repository.
