Overview

Screenshot & Blur is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to capture, annotate, blur, and export screenshots entirely within their local browser. We are committed to full transparency regarding data handling.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. The Extension does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information, browsing data, screenshots, or usage metrics. No data ever leaves your device.

Local Processing

All operations — including screenshot capture, blur effects, annotations, canvas rendering, and image export — are performed entirely on your local device. Captured image data is temporarily held in chrome.storage.session only to pass data between the background service worker and the popup UI within the same browser session. This data is cleared automatically when the session ends and is never written to persistent storage or sent to any external server.

Permissions

The Extension requests the following permissions solely to deliver its core functionality. No permission is used beyond its stated purpose:

• activeTab — Accesses the current tab only when the user explicitly triggers a screenshot capture action
• scripting — Injects a locally bundled script to render the screen region selection overlay
• storage — Temporarily stores captured image data within the session for internal passing between components
• tabs — Reads the active tab URL to verify protocol support before script injection
• clipboardWrite — Writes the final exported image as a PNG to the system clipboard when the user clicks Copy
• Host permission — Enables screenshot capture functionality on the active page

Third-Party Services

The Extension does not communicate with any third-party service, API, or remote server. No remote code is executed. All code is bundled locally within the extension package.

Analytics and Tracking

We do not use any analytics tools, tracking pixels, crash reporters, or telemetry services. Your browsing behavior and usage patterns are never monitored or recorded.

Children's Privacy

The Extension does not collect personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
