What this extension does

AI Bot Access Checker reads the robots.txt file of the website you are currently viewing and checks it against a built-in list of known AI crawler, search engine, SEO tool, and social preview bot user-agents. It shows you which of these bots are allowed or disallowed from accessing that site.

Data collection

This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data, browsing history, or user-identifiable information.

• It does not use any external server, analytics service, or third-party API.
• It does not use chrome.storage or any persistent storage — every check is performed fresh, in memory, each time you open the popup, and discarded when the popup closes.
• The only network request it makes is a direct fetch() to the current site's own /robots.txt path — a publicly published file the website itself makes available to any visitor or crawler. No cookies, headers, or identifying information beyond a standard browser request are sent.
• No data about which sites you visit, what the results were, or any other activity is recorded, logged, or sent anywhere outside your own browser session.

Permissions

• activeTab / tabs — used only to read the URL of your currently active tab, so the extension knows which domain's robots.txt to fetch. Not used to read page content.
• host_permissions (<all_urls>) — required so the extension's background script can fetch robots.txt from any domain you visit, since the tool's purpose is to work on any website, not a fixed list.

Third parties

This extension does not share data with any third party, advertiser, or analytics provider, because it does not collect any data in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
